Types of Massage

Medical Massage- Uses different massage styles and techniques to treat specific medical conditions of the client.

Neuromuscular Therapy- A specialized form of deep tissue massage were the practitioner applies digital pressure and friction are applied to help release tension or strain in the muscle.  This therapy can help to address underlying causes of chronic pain; such as: biomechanical dysfunction, posture distortion, nerve compression syndrome, and ischemia.

 

Sports Massage- A style designed to support athletic performance and aid in athlete recovery.  Commonly used for fatigue reduction, injury prevention/recovery, and increased flexibility.

 

Deep Tissue - Focuses on the deep layers of muscle and fascia in the body.  This style helps to reduce chronic pain, aids in stress relief, improves blood pressure, breaks up scar tissue, and rehabilitates injured muscles.

 

Trigger Point- Focuses on direct pressure to specific points on tender muscle tissue to reduce muscle tension and allows pain relief. 

 

Plantar Fasciitis Treatment- Designed to help relive inflammation and pain in the heel of the foot.

 

Cupping – A type of deep tissue massage that places cups on the patron’s skin to create a vacuum which will assist in pain reduction, reduce inflammation, and increase blood flow to the treated area.

Swedish- This is the most common type of massage that is both relaxing and energizing. It involves long soft kneading strokes in combination with light rhythmic tapping stokes on the upper layers of muscle.

 

Northern Thai Massage :  "Thai massage is performed on a mat on the floor and the client is fully clothed. Thai massage combines acupressure, yoga and massage" Living Sabai
